History and Information on Falcon Wrestling:

Falcon Wrestling is a cooperative sponsorship program between the Red Rock Central Schools and Westbrook Walnut Grove Schools. The pairing began during the 1993 - 1994 season. The first head coach for this team was Bruce Olson. Assistant coaches were Paul Olson and Steve Wegman.  Practices take place on a rotating basis between the High School at Lamberton and the High School at Westbrook. Both sites have special facilities for wrestling. Home meets are scheduled at both sites. The Plum Creek Wrestling Tournament is held on a rotating basis between Lamberton and Westbrook.  The Falcons had their first State Champion in 2000.  Austin Scarset won the title at 125 lbs. During the 2000-2001 season the Falcons reached the State Tournament as a team and finished 4th.  At the end of the 2000-2001 season both Head Coach Bruce Olson, and Asst Coach Steve Wegman retired.  In the 2001-2002 Season, Paul Olson took over the head coaching duties.  Joining Paul to coach the Falcons in 2001-2002 was Alumni Andy Ourada, and Wabasso Alumni Chad Irlbeck.  The team finished as runner up in the Section to 1st time champions Windom/Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin.  Jeff Cooley was an individual State Champion and is returning to defend his title in 2002-2003.  The 2002-2003 season begins with Chad Irlbeck as the head coach.  Chad will be assisted by Loy Woelber, and Chris Brandt.  During the 2003-2004 Season Chad Irlbeck and Chris Brandt are back and former Coach Paul Olson returns.   During the 2004-2005 season Falcons assistant coach Chris Brandt along with formerly retired coaches Bruce Olson and Steve Wegman will coach the squad for the season.   Practices rotate on a weekly basis between the Lamberton and Westbrook sites. The 2005-2006 Season begins with a new head coach, Brett Bartholomaus.
