RRRWS explores for additional water sources to continue diversifying the system makeup.  Recently, RRRWS found a potential water source supply to augment the wet industries of this area.  Many partners are involved with this project.

Osceola Water Source

Industrial Water Supply

Projects

Construction of pipeline is proposed to begin in 2009.  The pipeline will be installed by excavators for the large diameter mains and via trenchers for the smaller mains.   The pipe is to be buried at an approximate depth of six feet below the surface within or adjacent to road right-of-ways.  Utility easements from private landowners will be secured as construction nears.

There are still openings on the project.  Currently we have 85 paid sign-ups and continue to get one or two a day.  If you know of a neighbor interested in the project, we would be happy to send them out an informational packet.   A $400 feasibility study fee is required along with the Water Users Agreement and Ethnic survey in order to be considered for the project.  If a site being considered  is deemed not feasible, the $400 will be refunded.

When a water service is activated by the custormer, a monthly bill is due.  The monthly minimum is $22.00 plus $2.20 per thousand gallons of water used.  To estimate water usage, click here.

Jackson/Nobles Expansion Project

There have been several requests from landowners in southern Jackson and Nobles counties for rural water.  The Nobles County and Jackson County environmental services offices  distributed surveys to an ten township area and received a 52 percent response which indicated a 66 percent need for rural water.

This area is located in the Missouri River watershed and Minnesota state statutes prohibit the transfer of water from one watershed to another.  RRRWS began discussions with the Osceola Rural Water based out of May City, Iowa earlier this year.  Osceola Rural Water has the capacity and interest in partnering with RRRWS to provide water to the project area.  The estimated cost of the project is $12.5 million.
