WRITING ASSIGNMENTS
TIPS FOR WRITING
PREWRITING - Before beginning
to write you need to plan. Think about the topic.
What do you already know? Where can you get more information?
Gather the information. Think about the purpose of your assignment.
Write down ides you get.
MAKE AN OUTLINE - Group
and name your ideas. Add specific details and
examples to each group.
I. Main idea and preview
II. Body - Name of first group/topic sentence
a. details
b. examples
c. explanations
III. Body - Name of second group/topic sentence
a. details
b. examples
c. explanations
IV. Conclusion - Relate to points in the introductory
paragraph.
WRITE - Start with introductory
paragraph. This will tell your reader the main idea and give your
reader a preview of your whole composition. * Remember the topic sentence
should not be boring or flat.
Next write the body. The name of each group will become part of the
topic sentence of each paragraph. The ideas will become supporting
sentences with explanations and examples as needed.
Finally you are ready to write the conclusion. Use the last paragraph
to give some final advice, to express opinions, or to propose a solution
to the problems you have mentioned. This paragraph should tie into the
introduction.
CHECK YOUR WORK - Check your
sentence structure/ punctuation

to the end?
