MICROSOFT ONEDRIVE PRESENTATION - August 28, 2014 @ 10:30AM - RRC Auditorium

Microsoft "ONEDRIVE" (formerly called "SKYDRIVE") can be a great resource for RRC faculty to share audio, video, word documents, powerpoint presentations and other information with our students.

The following links are brief tutorials on to use this service....

First of all, a quick web address link to login to ONEDRIVE is: http://onedrive.com

(you could also type in outlook.com or hotmail.com or any of the other older Microsoft email login choices)

Then you need to know your login and password .... the format is rrc13leru@outlook.com

(rrc13leru@outlook.com belongs to Leonard Runck)

and your password is generally Falcons followed by your lunch number

You will want to figure out your students outlook.com email address to share out files, documents and recordings from your onedrive account.

The format is the generally the same for every student:

rrc, followed by the year the student graduates, followed by the first 2 letters of their first name, followed by the first 2 letters of their last name, followed by outlook.com

For example, Evan Blomgren has a Microsoft account of rrc17evbl@outlook.com. If he can't remember his password, chances are it is "Falcons", followed by his lunch number.

unless he changed it last year.

Another example: Reid Goeman = rrc16rego@outlook.com

Another example: Carter Engen = rrc15caen@outlook.com

and so on.....

Evan Blomgren and Reid Goeman demonstrate how to use the Microsoft Surface Tablet to video and audio record classroom lectures and post classroom documents. These files would then be available to students for review at a later time. The account is setup as for example rrc15caen@outlook.com or rrc16rego@outlook.com or in the case of Mrs. Larson, rrc13bela@outlook.com with the password being Falcons followed by 3 numbers, usually the lunch number of the student or faculty member.

To begin, go to the web site: http://onedrive.com and type in the username and password.

In the upper left corner of the screen, click on the down arrow. Then click One Drive.

Click folder, and then type the class name for the folder name.

From this folder you may store, select and share, documents and files.

How to record and upload video and audio recordings on your Microsoft Surface Tablet:

First, tap the camera icon.

Then tap the video icon (the unit is now recording).

Stop recording by tapping the square icon and recording will automatically save in MyDocuments/Pictures directory on the Surface Tablet.

Find the file and upload to your Microsoft One Drive.

File organization and naming suggestions:

I would suggest this example of a directory structure of the following inside your onedrive.com account:

Build a folder for each hour of class that you intend to share a document or video.

Example:

Larson Algebra 9, Larson Basic Algebra 9, Larson College Algebra, Larson Advanced Algebra, Larson AP Stats.

You may place inside each of these folders the documents and videos that you wish to share. I would suggest naming the files in chronological order.
