What a week! On Monday the Falcons traveled to Worthington for the 3-A south sub-section meet. Our girls team came home with the championship after struggling the first 9 holes. Alyse Quade shot a 45 the second 9 for a total score of 95 to take the medalist honors in the girls meet and give the Falcons the championship. Other golfers for the Falcons were; Caitlyn DeCock 105, Sarah DeCock 108, Alison Kircher 114, and Amanda Arfsten 117. Team Scores for the Sub-Section Meet were; RRC 422, WWG 429, Fulda and Adrian 436, MCC 462, SSC 470 and SWC Inc. The team advanced to the Section meet on Friday where they played as well as we have but ended up 3rd. After leading by 2 strokes after the first 9 holes, the girls ended up only 6 strokes behind the Lakeview girls who were the champions and 3 strokes behind Minneota in 2nd. Advancing to the State meet for the girls was Caitlyn DeCock who shot a 94 and was the 4th place individual qualifier. Also scoring for the Falcons were Alyse Quade with a 99, Sarah DeCock with a 101 and Alison Kircher with a 102. The team scores for the girls Section 3-A meet were Lakeview 390, Minneota 393, RRC 396, and WWG 443.
The Boys team also had a great week. On Monday the Falcons came one place short of a trip to the section meet by ending up 3rd behind Windom and WWG. The team shot a respectable 363 for the meet with Blake Walker leading the team with a 79. Matt Fox and Chris Miller advanced to the Section meet with Blake by shooting an 89 for Matt and a 91 for Chris. Also scoring for the Falcons was Jordan Smith with a 104. Other golfers for the Falcons were George Rogotzke with a 111 and Jordan Vollmer with a 123. Team Scores for the meet were Windom 316, WWG 346, RRC 363,SSC 372, HBC 375, SWC 377, and RLB 386. On Friday the boys played well with Blake Walker Qualifying for the State Meet with a 79 and Chris Miller missing a trip by one stroke with an 80. Matt Fox finished the day with an 87. The Falcons did not receive a team score for the meet. The teams did have a close battle with Windom advancing to State with a 319, Springfield Shot a 320 for Second and WWG finished 3rd with a 320 (lost on a tiebreaker), and Wabasso finished 4th with a 342.
This next week we have off for practice for the State HS Golf meet that will be held in Becker at Pebble Creek. The tournament begins with practice rounds for the golfers start at 9:00AM on June 3rd for our golfers. The competition starts with the girls on Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon for the boys. They will play 18 holes on Wednesday and 18 on Thursday starting at approximately the same time each day. We wish both Caitlyn and Blake lots of luck as they represent us at the State tournament!
