                The 2010 Golf Season is finally here for the Falcons. The snow has melted the course is open and in excellent shape and the weather has turned warmer. This year the Boys team is led coming into the season by Senior Cory Engen, Juniors Collin Nickel and George Rogotzke, and Sophomores Jordan Smith, Zach Valentin, and Skyler Vold as the golfers with varsity experience. Also Jr Tyler Pankonin is entering his 5th season and has shown much improvement in practice this season. New to the team this year are Senior Jake Fredrickson, and Tyler Erickson as upperclassmen on the team that we are looking at to contribute early on and often this season. Also our freshman class is showing promise with Darren Kronbach, Jesse Polk, Casey Engen, and Maison Miller as seasoned veterans that are joined this season by classmate Adam Knorr. Also on our Boy's team are our Jr High Golfers Zach Kircher, Cole Baumann, Mark Busswitz, Carter Engen, and Zach Peterson.

            The girls team has grown in numbers this year, but is fairly inexperienced. The team is led by Senior Jenna Smith, and Sophomore Alison Kircher as the only returning letterman. New to the team this year is Sophomore Shelby Moreland who has been learning the game quickly. The team is loaded with freshman this year with Jaycee Nelson in her third season on the team with new team members Jamie Gibson, Makayla Meier, and Kylie Redenius. We also have a 7th grader, Michelle Koppen with us this year filling out an 8 girl roster which is our biggest group in several years.

            Our first meet was held on April 8 after our match in Lakefield on April 6 was postponed until April 13. The meet included Wabasso, and Redwood Valley. The girls meet was won by Wabasso with a score of 223 followed by Redwood Valley 225 and RRC 252. Just missing medalist honors for the meet was Alison Kircher with a score of 48. Also scoring for the Falcons were Jenna Smith with a 60, Jaycee Nelson with a 70 and Shelby Moreland 74. The Falcons have little rest before Friday's meet in Adrian.

            In the Boy's meet the Falcons were led by Collin Nickel with a 47, Tyler Erickson 48, George Rogotzke 51, and Jordan Smith 53. The Falcons ended up 2nd by losing to Wabasso and defeating Redwood Valley. Team scores were Wabasso 161, RRC 199, and Redwood Valley 204.

            On Friday the both the boys and girls teams traveled to Adrian for a dual meet. the boys came away with a close win by beating the Dragons by a score of 186-187. Scoring for the boys were Collin Nickel with a 45, George Rogotzke with a 46, Jordan Smith with a 47 and Tyler Erickson with a 48. The Girls lost to Adrian by a score of 199-244. Scoring for the Falcons were Alison Kircher 47, Jenna Smith 54, Jaycee Nelson 65, and Makayla Meier 78.  The JV boys came away with a win by a score of  219-227. Scoring for the JV were Zach Valentin with a 51, Skyler Vold 54, Darren Kronbach 55, and Tyler Pankonin 59. 

            Next week all Squad travel to Windom on Monday (4/12) for a Dual meet. The Boys travel to Lakefield Tuesday (4/13) for a makeup match with Southwest United which will also include Worthington. On Thusday (4/15) The Falcons varsity boys and girls will host Luverne and Southwest Christian at Sanborn to finish out the week of competition.
