LIFESMARTS Grade Contract

I, ___________________________________________, agree to fulfill the

requirements as stated above, by the end of the semester, to receive a grade

of __________ in LifeSmarts class.  If I am incomplete at the end of the

semester, my grade will drop 1 letter grade for each week that my work is

late.

Required Class Assignments for everyone:

Workbook assignments from financial planning  (Due at the end of the 1st qtr.)

Insurance packets and tests.  (Due when done in class)

Letter of application, resume, application & job interview  (Due at the time of your interview – within the 1st month of class)

Design your own household budget (Due the 2nd Friday of class.  Page 66 of your workbook will assist with amounts.  This is also a one of the required consumer activities.)

Electronic recordkeeping for your household budget for 4 months.  (Due at the end of the 1st four months of class)

Banking article and consumer activity (Due by midterm of the second quarter)

Fill out one income tax form  (Due by midterm of the second quarter.)

Analyze insurance needs of case studies and provide accurate reasons for choices  (Due by midterm of the second qtr.)

Plan for purchasing 1 major item following the assignment guidelines (cost of over $500)  (Due by the end of the 2nd quarter)

Design 1 brochure, 1 poster and 1 Power Point presentation, following assignment guidelines, from the following topics:  (2 due at the end of the 1st qtr, 1 due at the end of the 2nd qtr.)

LIFESMARTS
Contract for Grade
to receive an “A” grade, the student will in addition to all assignments given in class:
-Participate as an effective group member in discussions and group                              assignments
-Write a summary or complete the assignment of each speaker or movie shown in class.  Summaries must follow the check list in format.
-Summarize 5 magazine or newspaper articles relating to class topics (a suggested list of topics is provided for you).  The article or a copy of it must be turned in with the summary.  Summaries must follow the check list format.  (One is due every 3 weeks until all are completed.)
-Complete 12 additional (+ the 5 required) consumer activities from the LifeSmarts curriculum.  (One is due every week until all are completed)
-Design 2 elective brochures.  (One is due at the end of each quarter)
-Do a 5 min. class presentation on one of the class topics.  (This could be done with other class members in the form of a panel discussion, skit or other ideas.  No more that 5 people can be in a group.)
-Share your Power Point presentation with the class
-Pass 90% on tests

To receive a “B” grade, the student will, in addition to all assignments given in class:
 -Do the first two requirements of the “A”
-Summarize 3 magazine or newspaper articles relating to class topics (see “A” requirement)  (One is due during the first week of every month until all are completed)
-Complete 11 additional (+ the 5 required consumer activities from the LifeSmarts curriculum.  One is due every week until all are completed)
-Design 1 elective brochure.  (Due at the end of the first quarter)
-Share your Power Point presentation with the class.
-Pass 80% on tests

To receive a “C” grade, the students will, in addition to all assignments given in class:
 -Do the first two requirements of the “A”
-Complete 10 additional (+ the 5 required) consumer activities from the LifeSmarts curriculum (One is due every week until all are completed)
Pass 70% on tests
