Cottonwood County Fair

Cottonwood County Fair Commission earns money by renting space in Windom at the fair grounds.  They rent space to the windom arena and to other companies in the county.  The rental income comes to $50,000 each year.  They also get money from tax payers  about $11,000 each year.  They earn the maximum of $60,000 a year in activities.  There are 12 clubs with 200 members in Cottonwood County.  About 20 years ago there use to be about 18 clubs with 700 members thathas shrank over the years. Cottonwood County Fair is held August 4th-8th.  The carnival at the fair is made up of different companies.  The fair is funded by the community, the 4-H clubs, businesses, and by the people that come to enjoy the fair. There is a 4-H food stand that is run by the clubs of the county.  The 4-H food stand profit pays the clubs a low fee for working. They are open for the fair and one other event, which is the horse show that comes to Windom. Its really good food!
