Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my web site. I hope you find it fun
and informative. This site has developed over the years, albeit a long time
between updates and even longer between major overhauls. In the past I have
mainly tried to make it a convenient place for me to start from for my uses of
the Internet. In this version, it will continue to serve that purpose, but I
hope that it will also serve as a more useful place for people other than
myself. I have used DHTML and JavaScript to achieve a polished appearance
while keeping the downloads small, so be sure to use the latest browser
available to you. If you have problems with it under
your browser, please send me an e-mail with a specific description of
the problem, and I will try to fix it. Enjoy the site!
When people ask me what my interests are, I really don't quite know how to
respond, because I can't really claim to be someone who is really passionate
about much of anything. At least not about any one thing for a very long
time. However, I think that the best way to measure someone's interests is to
examine how they spend their disposable time. Using that method, my interests are easy to identify.
I spend a lot of my free time at my computer. Much (too much) of it is spent
on Black Isle Studios roll playing games
Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, and
Icewind Dale. Occasionally I need the release of a mindless
first-person shooter. In those situations the game of choice is Unreal
Tournament, but Quake III Arena
will do as well. When I'm not lost in some computer game somewhere, I'm usually
working on my web site or messing around with my Linux server.
But there is a life beyond computers, and when that's the life I'm living I
enjoy activities such as volunteering at Grace
Church Roseville as a sound technician for the Face to Face service,
attending large group meetings of Macalester
Christian Fellowship as a volunteer, reading science fiction or fantasy
novels, and visiting with friends.
I receieved my bachelor's degree at
Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota,
in May 2000. My official degree is Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, with a
Computer
Science major and
Music minor.
My secondary education is from
Red Rock Central High School, in Lamberton, Minnesota. I graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1996.
I was highly involved in band, choir, academic decathlon, and setting up the computer network.
I have no immediate plans for graduate school, but am still considering the possibility of returning to the classroom
to obtain a graduate degree in Computer Science.
On March 26, 2001, I began working full time at
Honeywell Laboratories as a
Scientist/Engineer I, which more simply put is a first-level computer
programmer, currently in C++ and a little bit of Perl. However, nondisclosure
agreements rule the day, and I can't really say any more about what I'm doing there.
Prior to accepting employment at Honeywell I held a number of part time jobs
during and around my time as a student at Macalester College. The most important
of these was my job at RRCNET, which I have been involved with since its
inception in 1996. RRCNET provided me with a lot of practical experience with
Novell Netware, Digital Alpha, RedHat Linux, and Bay Networks Remote Access
Servers. Additionally, I did some programming, mostly in Perl.
If you would like to contact me, I would love to hear from you (unless you're a
solicitor trying to sell me something, in which case your use of this
information will be considered
rude, and you will be
abused to the best of my
ability):
