The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education, District No.
2884 was held in the Board Room in Lamberton on Monday, December 19, 2016. Members present were: Bierl, Clarke, Hansen,
Kelsey, Rasmussen, Rogotzke, and Stavnes. Others in attendance: Superintendent
Olson, Principal Goetstouwers, Jessica Juncewski, Derek Stevenson, Ben Hansen, Alex
Pankonin and Doreen Kronback.
Chairman Rogotzke called the meeting to order at
5:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Upon motion of Rasmussen, seconded by Kelsey, and
unanimously carried to approve the Agenda, November 17, 2016, Board Minutes and
Treasurer’s report as presented.
Principal Goetstouwers presented the following 5-12 Leadership Report:
Survey results from parent survey administered at Parent-Teacher Conferences;
Jessica Juncewski gave the FFA update – Fruit Sales, 37 members of RRC Chapter
sold $13,963.00 worth of fruit, meat, cheese, popcorn and butter braids,
delivery date December 20, Corn drive total was $6,262.51 after receipt of grain
donations at the elevator, FFA competition today all participants advance to
state, Kennedy Vold 1st in Creed, Kegan Zimmermann 1st in
Prepared Public Speaking and Small Animal team 7th; Choir was unable
to perform National Anthem at St. Cloud Division hockey game on December 10 due
to weather; All three winter sport teams are off to a good start; Snow Week is
January 16 – 20; the Illusion Theatre and Patty Wetterling is on January 11th
- in the day there are student
lyceums in the auditorium for grades 2 -12 on personal safety,
appropriate/inappropriate touch and healthy relationships, the interactive
theatre events are put on the by Illusion Theatre of Minneapolis and Patty
Wetterling will share her story and talk about “Creating a Better World for Our
Children” at 7:00 p.m. in Springfield.
Superintendent Olson presented the following Elementary Report: Book
Fair was again a success, not as big of profit as in the past, $1700 something
was earned and put back into buying books for the Library; The Climb Theater
presented a lyceum on December 2 on Be a Leader, Be Brave and Step up;
Elementary Christmas Concert on December 5 was very well attended and was a
very nice concert; Elementary Student Council Sponsored a Coloring Contest
winners pictures are displayed in the hallway and the Student Council made
$345.00 on Advent Calendar sales and $369.00 on Weather Calendar Sales.
Superintendent’s Report: Presented roof repair bids for consideration;
Presented Asbestos Removal Bids for the three parts of the Jeffers building;
There is still interest in the Jeffers building, need Board direction before
doing anything; Congratulations to Bill Rogotzke as he was elected to the
Region 3 Administrative Committee; Turned in theft claim of $2,960.00 based on
past play receipts; Recommend members vote for MREA Board of Director candidate
Luther Heller; Filed the Integration Report for 2015-2016; Scheduled a meeting
with New Ulm Tel Com and the SWWC Co-op to look at the future of the RRCNET
program; Interested in purchasing ceiling tiles out of Jeffers Building and
Plaques of congratulations and thank you were presented to Kip Rasmussen and Amy
Bierl for their service to RRC.

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Hansen and
unanimously carried, to approve all claims for payment in the amount of
$117,757.04. Receipts were $490,075.76.
Upon motion of Stavnes, seconded by Bierl and unanimously carried, to accept
the bid from Eco-Water of Redwood Falls for a fully reconditioned and warranted
2 year old water softener for $7,700.00.
Upon motion of Hansen, seconded by Clarke, to approve the bid of
$56,000.00 to paint the gymnasium area. Motion defeated 7 – 0.
Superintendent was directed to seek bids to paint the gymnasium area
based on the bid threshold policy and pricing.
Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Clarke to hire Mrs. Jenny Stavnes
and Mrs. Stacey Vold to be Co-Community Education Directors at a salary of $2,500.00
each. Motion carried 6-0. Abstaining: Stavnes.
Upon motion of Hansen, seconded by Bierl to hire Mrs. Joan Blomgren
and Mrs. Jenny Stavnes to work as ECFE Coordinators at a salary of $1,000.00
each per year. Motion carried 6 – 0.
Abstaining: Stavnes.
Chairman Rogotzke opened Truth and Taxation
meeting at 6:00 p.m.
Superintendent Olson presented the Truth &
Taxation Levy Information.
Chairman Rogotzke closed the Truth and Taxation meeting
at 6:20 p.m.
Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Bierl and
unanimously carried to certify the 2016 payable 2017 Levy in the amount of
$871,233.63.
Other items discussed: Pre-school class size prohibits new family from
attending pre-school at RRC; Daycare need; Students asked to remain for
Athletic practice meeting when school had been dismissed because of weather;
Need for Elementary Office to have answering service set up and MN School Board
Convention January 18 – 20, 2017.
January Regular Monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 25,
2017 at 5:00 p.m. and February Regular Monthly meeting well be held on Monday,
February 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Rasmussen and
unanimously carried the meeting was adjourned at 6:26 p.m.
