Lead Teacher Riley’s report was distributed to the board:  Grandparent’s Day was October 23rd.  After the children gave a program, the grandparents were served refreshments and were given the opportunity to tour their grandchildren’s classrooms.  November 9-12 was our annual Scholastic Book Fair.  This year we earned over $1000.  We also participated in the “Toys for Tots” program.  The children collected $218 for that program and the adults working at the school will have to spray their hair with colored hair spray.  November 11th was the Veteran’s Day program.  Wayne Tasler spoke to the students and had one of the 5th graders put on the gear they wear – which can weigh up to 65 pounds.  Parent-Teacher Conferences were held on November 12th.  On Tuesday, November 17th, Sheila Ryker who is our Lead Title I teacher, will be having the annual Title I meeting to inform parents about the program.  November 16-20 is American Education Week.  Each day we’ll be doing something special in honor of this week.  November 20th is our next integration day.  The 3rd and 4th graders will be hosting in Jeffers and the 1st and 2nd graders will be heading for Walnut Grove.

Principal Olson reported the following:  The Fall musical was a great success again this year.  Parent/Teacher/Student conferences were held last week.  I have completed the first round of observations of the probationary teachers.   We had a speaker from Sleepy Eye for our Veteran’s Day program and it went very well.  The FFA Corn Drive was last Thursday.  Because of the rainy fall, a few FFA members came to me and asked if they could do it on a Thursday.  Mr. Olson also gave an overview of the new Detention and Electronic Devices policy that will be voted on later at this meeting.

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Stavnes and unanimously carried, to pay claims in the amount of $88,215.29.  Receipts were $342,055.29.
