The regular monthly meeting of the Board of
Education, District No. 2884 was held in the Board Room in Lamberton
on Monday, July 20, 2015. Members
present were: Bierl, Clarke, Hansen, Kelsey, Rasmussen, Rogotzke,
and Stavnes. Others in attendance: Superintendent
Olson, Doreen Kronback and Joe Dietl.
Chairman Rogotzke
called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Upon motion of
Clarke, seconded by Rasmussen, and unanimously carried to approve the Agenda,
June 15, 2015 Board Minutes and Treasurer’s report as presented.
Superintendent Olson reported the following:
Final numbers on Roof repairs – Proposal for all roofs $25,180.25, actual cost
$24,190.34, $989.91 under budget; Final Van cost- Proposed cost $13,000.00,
actual cost $12,563.94, $436.06 under budget; Final cost of floor work - Proposed for both floors $17,140.80, change
order $900.00 filled in boxes in front $18,040.80, final cost $18,060.00, over
budget $19.20; DeMartini Building realtor’s list
price is $189,000.00 is it a feasible want or need for the District; Slope of
the Auditorium seating has been leveled at an approximate cost of $1,500.00,
four seats were removed in the process; Balance in the Auditorium Fund is
$30,000.00; Auditorium project that remains is replacing the doors to the
Auditorium; Storage Building update, cost estimate is $50,000.00 because of
potential requirements of sprinklers and fire doors, will continue to work with
engineers and local contractors. Rick
Peterreins has declined opening a vehicle repair shop at the school.
Other discussion: Updating the bathrooms in the
mezzanine area and different backboard shapes in the gymnasium. The round boards can be replaced with the
square boards from Jeffers.
Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Hansen and
unanimously carried, to approve all claims for payment in the amount of
$145,457.61. Receipts were
$1,030,191.41.
Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Clarke and
unanimously carried, to approve joining the MSBA, with Association dues of
$2,813.00 per year.
Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Bierl and
unanimously carried, to approve hiring Marty Sarne as
a Special Education Instructor for the District at a salary of $41,450.00.
Upon motion of Hansen, seconded by Rasmussen and
unanimously carried, to approve the Health and Safety Budget for the 2015-2016
School Year; the 10-Year Long Term Facilities Maintenance Budget and the
District Health and Safety Policy as presented.
Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Kelsey and
unanimously carried, to approve the second reading of the Eligibility Policy.

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Stavnes and unanimously carried, to accept the following
bids for gasoline and diesel fuel, dairy and bread products, with fueling being
done where it is convenient for the driving staff.

The Board came out of closed session at 6:13 p.m.
and the meeting was adjourned.
