Red Rock Central District No. 2884

Monday, July 18, 2011

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education, District No. 2884, was held in the Board Room in Lamberton on Monday, July 18, 2011.  Members present were:  Bierl, Clarke, Erickson, Johnson, Kelsey, Rogotzke, and Stavnes.  Superintendent Brennan, Bryce Pack, Derek Stevenson, Leon Stalls, Denise Clarke, and Joe Dietl were also in attendance.

 

Chairman Rogotzke called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Bierl and unanimously carried, to approve the agenda, the minutes of the June 20, 2011 minutes, and the treasurer’s report.

 

Bryce Pack, Athletic Director, came before the Board to explain the procedure for hiring coaching staff.  After a lengthy discussion, the Board thanked Mr. Pack for his input.

 

Board Member Kelsey reported that he attended a meeting of the Redwood County Collaborative at which they discussed the storm damage at the Belview school.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Stavnes and unanimously carried, to pay claims in the amount of $37,322.91.  Receipts were $157,706.99.

 

Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Erickson and unanimously carried, to approve the resignation due to retirement of Willard Pfarr as bus route driver immediately, and to thank him for his many years of faithful service to the school district.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Johnson and unanimously carried, to award the following bids for the 2011-2012 school year:

8 cents per gallon discount from the posted pump price on Regular Unleaded and Road Diesel Fuels on date of purchase.

5 cents per gallon discount from the posted pump price on Unleaded Fuels and Diesel Fuel on date of purchase.

 

Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Clarke and unanimously carried, to increase our Hot Lunch prices for the 2011-2012 school year as follows:

Lamberton Hot Lunch:   $2.05

Jeffers Hot Lunch:           $1.85

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Kelsey and unanimously carried, to approve membership in the following:

                Minnesota State High School League

                Minnesota Rural Education Association - $1,475

                Minnesota School Boards Association (excluding policy services) - $2,579

 

Discussion was held regarding student fees, student enrollment, cash flow when the State withholds dollars, and summer rec.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Johnson and unanimously carried, to adjourn at 8:28 p.m.
