Red Rock Central District No. 2884

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education, District No. 2884, was held in the Board Room in Lamberton on Monday, July 15, 2013.  Members present were:  Clarke, Erickson, Kelsey, Rasmussen, Rogotzke, and Stavnes.  Bierl was absent.  A quorum of 6 was present.  Superintendent Brennan and Denise Clarke were also in attendance.

 

Chairman Rogotzke called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Upon motion of Kelsey, seconded by Rasmussen and unanimously carried, to approve the agenda as amended, the minutes of the June 17, 2013 meeting, and the treasurer’s report.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Erickson and unanimously carried, to pay claims in the amount of $78,217.06.  Receipts were $346,382.89.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Stavnes and unanimously carried, to award the following bids for the 2013-2014 school year:

Meadowland Farmers Coop

5 cents per gallon discount from the posted pump price on date of purchase for Gasoline and Diesel Fuel.

 

Farmers Coop Oil Assn – Jeffers

10 cents per gallon discount from the posted pump price on Regular Unleaded and Road Diesel Fuels on date of purchase.

 

Expressway Sanborn – Staples Oil

5 cents per gallon discount from the posted pump price on Unleaded Fuels and Diesel Fuel on date of purchase.

 

Lamberton Handimart

5 cents per gallon discount from the posted pump price on Unleaded Fuels and Diesel Fuel on date of purchase

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Erickson and unanimously carried, to approve membership in the following:

                Minnesota Rural Education Association - $1,462

                Minnesota School Boards Association - $2,768

 

Upon motion of Kelsey and seconded by Rasmussen, to adopt the 2013-2014 Resolution for Membership in the Minnesota State High School League.

Upon roll call vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:  Kelsey, Clarke, Erickson, Rasmussen, Stavnes, and Rogotzke. 

And the following voted against the same:  None

Bierl was absent.

Upon motion of Erickson, seconded by Clarke and unanimously carried, to set fees for the 2013-2014 school year as follows:

HOT LUNCH

6-12 Grade Hot Lunch:   $2.25    

                Elementary Hot Lunch:  $2.05                    

 

                6-12 Grade Breakfast:    $1.20                    

                Elementary Breakfast:   $1.10                    

 

                Adult Hot Lunch                $3.25

                Adult Breakfast                 $1.55

                Extra Milk                            $0.35

Upon motion of Erickson, seconded by Stavnes and unanimously carried, to reapprove the attached Health and Safety Policy and the projected budget of $64,400 as presented.

 

Discussion:  $50,000 anonymous donation to Red Rock Central Arts, to be used for lighting and sound in the Auditorium.  Kelsey and Rogotzke will form a committee with community members that want to be involved in this project.  The Board directed Superintendent Brennan to send the donator a card of thanks.  The status of teacher negotiations was discussed. 

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Erickson and unanimously carried, to adjourn at 8:26 p.m.
