Red Rock Central District No. 2884

Monday, June 13, 2005

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education, District No. 2884, was held in the elementary school library in Jeffers on Monday, June 13, 2005.  Members present were:  Clarke, Derickson, Mattison, Meyer, and Moldan.  Greenfield and Myers were absent.  Superintendent Brennan, Principal Olson, Joe Dietl, and Denise Clarke were also in attendance.

 

Chairman Derickson called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Upon motion of Meyer, seconded by Clarke and unanimously carried, to approve the agenda as amended, the minutes of the May 9, 2005 meeting, and the treasurer’s report.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Moldan and unanimously carried, to pay claims in the amount of $74,262.41.  Receipts were $443,844.08.

 

Upon motion of Moldan, seconded by Mattison and unanimously carried, to accept the resignation, due to retirement, of Roger Hoehne as Jeffers custodian, and to thank him for his many years of service to the school district.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Meyer and unanimously carried, to approve the hiring of the following:

            Christopher Fuecker – Secondary English, Jr. High Baseball Coach, Drama

            Sheila Ryker – 30% Title One Teacher

            Brett Bartholomaus – Head Wrestling Coach

            Kristi Stevenson – Title One Aide

Betty Keck – Title One Aide

            Sharlla Maras – Summer Rec. – Jeffers

 

Upon motion of Moldan, seconded by Meyer and unanimously carried, to approve the purchase of the 2006 model Thomas 65-passenger school bus for $63,030.96 which covers the sales tax and interest (4.8%) over 2 years with the base bid of $58,700.00 and interest of $4,330.96.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Mattison and unanimously carried, to set the following fees and prices for the 2005-2006 school year:  Driver Education:  $250.00.  Hot Lunch Lamberton Bldg:  Lunch $1.75; Breakfast $0.95; Adult Lunch $2.65.  Hot Lunch Jeffers Bldg:  Lunch $1.55; Breakfast $0.95; Adult Lunch $2.65.  Athletic Events Admission:  Adult $5.00; Students K-12 $3.00.  Athletic Season Pass:  Adult $40.00; Grades 7-12 $22.50; Grades K-6 $16.00; Family Max. $90.00.  Athletic Participation Fee:  Grades 7-8 $10.00 per activity; Grades 9-12 $25.00 first activity, $15.00 second activity, $10.00 third activity; Family Max. $75.00.  Speech/Drama Fee:  High School $10.00 per activity; Family Max. $40.00.  Instrument Rent:  Grades 7-12 $50.00; Grades 7-12 percussion $25.00; Elementary $30.00; Elementary percussion $15.00.

Upon motion of Mattison, seconded by Meyer and unanimously carried, to hire the auditing firm of Nester and Nester of Wabasso to perform the school district audit for the 2004-2005 school year at a cost of $9,300.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Mattison and unanimously carried, to accept the preliminary General Budget for the 2005-2006 school year.

 

Upon motion of Meyer, seconded by Moldan and unanimously carried, to set the wages for the 2005-2006 school year for the Superintendent’s Secretary at $11.84 per hour with associated benefits, and the District’s Bookkeeper at $13.85 per hour with associated benefits.  Voting yes:  Derickson, Mattison, Meyer, and Moldan.  Clarke abstained.  Motion carried.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Mattison and unanimously carried, to add Tracy School District to the Redwood County Collaberative.

 

Upon motion of Clarke, seconded by Mattison and unanimously carried, to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
