Our
Network Server a Compaq Proliant 3000
High School Site at Lamberton (6-12)
The Red Rock Central High School building is equipped with an ethernet
network, running Novell Netware 4.11 as the local area network operating
system. The building network also features Follett automated library system,
a networked CD-ROM tower, and Internet access through a high speed digital
T1 phone line. Students and staff have building-wide access to a
wide variety of information technologies. An integrated phone system provides
staff and students with a state of the art voice communication system as
well.
The high school is equipped with computer hardware addressing educational
needs of students with a variety of goals in mind. Windows 98/95, DOS/Windows
3.11, Macintosh LCIII, Unix/Linux, and Macintosh Power PC systems are all
available.
The use of technology is encouraged in all curricular areas of the RRC
program. Specific semester length computer applications courses are available
for student study.
The computer technology coordinator is Leonard
Runck. Other people instrumental in the development and progress
of the use of information technologies at Red Rock Central are John Stenzel, Charles Nordby, Steve Wegman, and Sharyn Martinson.
Elementary Site at Jeffers (K-5)
Computer technology at the elementary site is improving greatly this year,
with plans for the addition of Internet access to every room. The
elementary site has Macintosh computer hardware available with CD-ROM and
ethernet networking connected directly to a high-bandwidth fiber optics
line for Internet access.
